Different Routes To Change

Here at CoBOS Technology we meet a wide variety of firms, each with their own specific challenges they want to tackle. But despite the differences, we’ve observed that they broadly fall into one of two camps – we think of them as either ‘deep’ or ‘broad’.

In the ‘deep’ camp are those firms that have a single, high priority goal or problem. This is typically a complex issue that either significantly hampers their efficiency or acts as a barrier to new opportunities. A good example is an Investor Relations team that must combine and analyse datasets from multiple providers to fulfil a reporting requirement for internal and external audiences. The manual work required is tedious and highly prone to errors. Automation not only improves the resilience of the overall process, but also frees up expensive staff time that can be better used to pursue the firm’s goals.

In the ‘broad’ camp are firms that need to exert greater control over a wide range of their day-to-day business. This frequently happens after a period of growth, when launching a new product, or when a CxO needs to demonstrate a robust operating framework. Initially they just want to embed basic checklists to ensure that critical tasks are being done promptly. That first step gives them a properly secure foundation to build upon as they strive to create a high-performance business.

Neither of these approaches is better than the other. Both routes are equally valid and both correctly focus on the issues that currently cause their firm most pain.

But anyone embarking on change should also have one simple question at the back of their mind - what comes next? It’s very rare to find an organisation that doesn’t have a whole range of other challenges to address. So whatever your initial needs, the solution you adopt must be able to support your future business needs.

The CoBOS vision is for every firm to have a deep and broad control of their own individual ‘business operating system’.

But we know it’s unrealistic to achieve that on Day 1. That’s why we have deliberately designed the CoBOS Platform to flex according to your priorities. Whether you want to start deep or go broad, our platform will support you. And if, on Day 2, you decide to flip your approach to tackle the other dimension, well that’s easily accommodated too.
