Different between Mobile SEO and Desktop SEO

A budding digital marketer should never ignore few basic differences between mobile and desktop while planning their SEO checklist. Though it might sound similar but there is certainly important nitty gritties that can lead to blunder if not addressed. The essential ones’ are listed below.

1. Algorithms

When it comes to ranking in Google pages it’s the game of the algorithm that decides the winner. SEO is the major contributor in affecting these calculations. The SEO techniques for the desktop may be completely different from the mobile. This is due to many reasons. One of which is ease of usage.

There may be some applications that may be more convenient on the web where some on mobile. For the same reason the website that runs on desktop may have different features on mobile. That is the reason Mobile SEO is quite difference from SEO. 

2. UX & UI

User experience and interface does make a remarkable difference in the SEO. Desktop and Mobile are UI are poles apart. It has to be that way as there is lots of difference in their appearance as well. Desktop has a big screen, where as mobile is handy. On the contrary there are many apps that are only supported on your Smartphone.

For instance if we talk about instagram there are so many features that you can’t think of using on the desktop. In fact such apps are made for mobile only. On the desktop it’s good to get the notifications only . Another example is of another social media i.e. LinkedIn.

The desktop version is entirely different from mobile. While creating a post through a mobile for LinkedIn you can send an emoji. Whereas while using a desktop application there is no such functionality. So the scope of SEO is naturally different in mobile as compared to the desktop.

3. Site Architect & Maps

Nowadays most of the sites are made responsive so that they can be easily used on desktop as well as mobile. In order to do so there is some specific coding language that needs to give the required commands. While working on the SEO features it has to be aligned with the website front-end and backend as well. As both are different in the case of desktop as well as mobile so SEO needs to be different as well.

4. Relevance of CTA (Call to Action)

The way CTA appears in desktop is different from how it appears on the mobile. The major difference is the size. As desktop comes with a bigger screen so even if the CTA is places somewhere in the corner it has got better visibility.

However if you talk about mobile it has to be loud and clear. Simple reason for the same the proportion of the screen. The attention span and eye moment of the user is quicker in mobile.

 So there are greater chances to miss it if the CTA is smaller. After creating the differential in the CTA ensure the SEO is customized as per the relevant application mobile or web.

5. Image Size

The image size that is used in desktop may appear differently in your mobile. In order to adjust is specialized plug-in or the code might be used. This can make a difference in the SEO of desktop as well as mobile too.

6. Keyword planning

While planning a keyword it’s good to remember the difference between a desktop as well as mobile. The research people do on desktop might be more detailed as compared to the mobile. Hence the keyword planner should be comprehensive enough that can accommodate the difference between the both.

7. Search Engine Ranking page(SERP) Strategy

There are many factors that can help you landing on the first page of the Google rank. The SEO game plays the most important role. In order to implement it you must understand all the criteria that work in the case of mobile as well as desktop.

As a digital marketer or otherwise you must be able to accommodate all the factors that can help in increasing the rank of your website. Better we are able to use different technique for Mobile and SEO higher we can rank in the SERP.
