A Different Approach

A Different Approach

What if;

for the next 4 weeks,

all loan repayments were ceased,

all bills stopped,

all rent was not payable or accrued

ASX closed

all incomes ceased

no tax payable.

Our only expenses were food and the cost of staying at home with our loved ones for two to four weeks

Services including electricity, gas and water were paid for by the government

All health services were kept running

Police and emergency services were enacted to ensure people are off the streets

Groceries were delivered to your door

People suffering hardships were issued food coupons

When clear of the virus, we turn the switch back on and all go back to our jobs and get on with it. People will lose value in their investments and/or income, but we all will so it will be relative. When a company loses 20% in revenue, it is a bad year, by terminating millions of employees, business returning to 'normal' will be prolonged further and the repair period so much longer.

Would this not save many jobs, the economy and more? My estimation is that this will cost significantly less than the current bailout packages issued by government and have a better effect on virus containment. We are all going through pain with this and it is only the amount that varies. I would rather short term pain for long term gain.

This would likely need global participation but food for thought nonetheless

Makes perfectly good sense and has economic implications built in No wastage of resources that traditionally occur in “ bail outs “ Trouble is Blake common sense never passes political testing Complication appears to ensure people’s roles are justified ??
