The difference for steel, cast iron, copper fire pit and stainless steel fire pit

After been in fire pit field for years. I would love to share some of my friends who want to buy fire pit for the different material fire pit's advantage and disadvantage.

1. Most common used material for fire pit is Steel. 0.6mm to 1mm thick is more common. Usually factory buy from market for different thickness flat square materials.

2. Second common used material for fire pit is cast iron.

The advantage for cast iron is it can make into more unusual shape.

The disadvantage for cast iron is:

a. This is heavier.

b. The production time is longer, the reason you will see in next seconds.

c. As it contains more carbon in the material, so it is easier to crash during the shipment by courier.

Cast iron product is made in the following way:

a. Make the mould according to your design.

b. Melt iron over 1538 degree. Then pour the iron liquid into the mould.

c. Cool down. Take the bowl out.

Cast iron is forbidden in many area of the developed area in China due to the unfriendly for environment. So the bowl shaped in less developed area as Jiangxi or Hebei. So the shipment also cost time. That is why cast iron take longer time to produce.

3. Third common used material for fire pit is copper.

Copper have three disadvantage:

a. Expensive.It cost Sunnie a leg and one arm for get one copper fire pit. Now the raw material price is almost reach to 60000RMB per ton.

b. Copper is not so stronge as iron.

c. When copper meet salt, it will rust with green spot. Not even touch salt itself. Even the user nearby sea, the air or rain contain more salt than other place. These would bring green spot too. So be prepare for custom complain, if they expecting everything perfect.

4. Forth common used material is Stainless steel

The advantage for this is not rusty easily.

The disadvantage is :

a. The color is not so stylish to match with black or other color base.

b. Expensive.
