Heartfulness Story-44
A poor man got a house built for his family with great effort. He had saved every penny, little by little, for the last 20 years, so that his family could move out of the small hut and live happily in a pucca house.
Finally, one day the house gets ready. After deliberation, an auspicious date was fixed for the housewarming.
But two days before the housewarming, his house collapsed in an earthquake.
When the man came to know about this accident, he ran to the market and bought sweets. He reached the spot with sweets where many people were gathered and were expressing regret over the accident.
'Oh, such an unfortunate thing to happen to the poor man. With great difficulties, he had built the house by adding every penny.'
People were discussing different opinions among themselves.
The poor man reached there, took out sweets from his bag and started distributing them to everyone.

Everyone was surprised by his action!
Finally one of his friends asked him, "Have you gone mad? Your house has collapsed, your life long earnings have gone to waste and you are happily distributing sweets!?"
The man smiled and replied, "You are seeing only the negative side of this incident, not the positive side. It is very good that the house collapsed today itself. Otherwise think, if this house would have collapsed after 2 days, then the whole of my family - me, my wife and children, all could have been dead. What a big loss that would be?!"
Any event or thing can have two sides - a positive aspect and a negative aspect. Now it depends on us which aspect of that thing or event, we want to see and this is what our life's destiny depends on.
A sense of acceptance under all circumstances will keep taking you ahead on the path without any fatal accidents - Daaji*
