Trailblazers need community, too
There’s this myth out there about trailblazers: people coming up with ideas for businesses that haven’t existed before are these mysterious geniuses who inspire their employees to follow their vision and change the world.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a good movie about WeWork or Uber as much as anybody else, but that’s not the game we’re playing.

Our goal has always been to open up the community that the founders started by meeting informally to support each other as we figure out how to better serve families faced with a mountain of administrative work after a death. We started our businesses thinking we were the only ones who had identified this need, which can be exciting but also a bit lonely.

Once we found each other, we breathed this huge sigh of relief knowing that there were other people who cared about the same things we did. We asked each other questions: how did you find a human to speak to at that company? (LinkedIn) What was your experience using Google Ads to grow your business? (Not great) I’m feeling a little overwhelmed, what should I do? (Take a break, breathe, go outside)

There’s no gatekeeping. There’s no undercutting each other. There’s understanding that starting a business is hard, and starting a business that most people have never heard of before is even harder.

We figured out that we’re stronger together, and we’d rather work toward a shared goal and have an even greater impact by bringing more people into this space. Will you join us?
