Choosing accessories for technical devices can be difficult sometimes. For example, when it comes to the question of what to choose – a USB charge or a USB data. Some devices specifically ask for one or the other but not every user knows how to tell the two apart. Even more confusing is the fact that there are USB cables that can both transfer data and power to a device. Let's explain the difference.
The difference between USB charging and data transfer is not obvious to everyone at first glance.
Externally, the two types of ports are usually indistinguishable, and they both come in type A and type C, but they are preforming two completely different operations. If you are not sure which one do you have, a little trick can help you to quickly find it out . To do this, connect your smartphone to your PC with the cable.
If your computer reports that it has connected to a media device, it is a data transfer port. If, on the other hand, only the charging indicator on your phone shows that a power supply is taking place, you are dealing with a charging unit.
