Difference between static & dynamic website and which one is better?

As a business owner, your website is often the place consumers go when looking for the products or services that you provide. Today, consumers are much more tech-savvy and tend to do more research online before making a decision on a purchase. Having the best possible website to make that ever-important first impression is critical to success by web designer Bangkok.

The type of website your business has also plays a big part in the impression you are trying to make on potential customer. In this instance, we’re referring to whether to select a static or dynamic website.

There are distinct benefits and drawbacks to both, but for today’s post we’re going focus on the benefits of dynamic websites over static sites. First, we’re going to define “static” and “dynamic” as they pertain to website construction.

Static Websites

The closest approximation of a static website is an online brochure. It acts and seems like a printed brochure that potential customers can read on-screen. it’s necessary to note that static websites still include interactivity – like hyperlinks, forms, etc. – and may function reasonably well for customers, however they limit the changes a novice business owner can create without HTML code skills.

Think of it this way: remember those days where printing was done using plates? Every time you needed to change design or text, you needed to create a new plate from which to print. Instead of using plates, static websites use HTML, the basic coding protocol used by websites. Each change to a static website needs someone who is aware of how to use HTML to go in and manually change the code.

Dynamic Websites

Dynamic websites have much more functionality and flexibility. Their initial set up is more difficult and they use more complex coding types like PHP or ASP; however once it’s been set up and style sheets are put in place, managing a dynamic website is much easier. Also, with the proper Content Management System (CMS), updating content or making new pages can be finished with no programming skills in web design Bangkok.

This means changes can be made as often as you want, new pages, landing pages, and campaign pages can be added when the requirement arises without the need for a detailed knowledge of programming or coding. Relevant calls-to-action can be scripted and strategically placed, new deals uploaded once they are current, and older content will be deleted. As a business owner, you’ll be able to control your website in-house using in-house equipment and people; therefore there’s no need to pay anyone to make content changes to your website!

When Would you consider using a Static Website?

Three years ago, we may have been discussing benefits and time to make, etc. to static websites, however now, in this current climate, we can see no real benefits to having a static website, other than possibly as a holding page while a dynamic website is being built.
