The Difference Between A Personal and Business Facebook Page and The Mistakes You Should Avoid

Are you wondering what the difference between your personal Facebook page and your Facebook business page is? 

A lot of real estate agents think it's their God-given right to post anything and everything on their personal Facebook page and spam all their friends and family about what they've sold to promote their business. This is a direct violation of Facebook’s policies and they can shut your personal page down if you do it constantly.

So what can you do? How can you promote your business without getting shut down?

The answer is to create a business page and post all of your business-related updates there. Then what you can do is share your business page to your personal page. Then it is different because you are “sharing information” rather than blatantly posting it on your page.

WHAT CAN YOU DO ON YOUR PERSONAL FACEBOOK PAGE?

What you need to keep in mind is that your personal page is personal. Your Facebook friends and family want to know what's happening in your life. They want to hear what you're up to. It's NOT about business.

So What Can You Do On Your Personal Page? 

Create Lists

So you can create a client list so you can specifically curate a news feed all about your clients and jump in there and comment and post on their posts about their lives and that kind of thing. You can send them Happy Anniversary and Birthday messages through a private message in messenger. 

You can also do social prospecting methods, which I will go into in another blog. This is a really, really powerful way of prospecting, so watch out for that in the future.

A mistake a lot of agents make is that they create a separate business personal profile page. That is not the right thing to do. You actually need to set up a business page where you get followers and fans and once you have that up, here’s what you need to do to make sure that you’re making the most of it.
