ASTM A36 and AH36 steel are two commonly used low carbon steels. They have certain differences in chemical composition, mechanical properties, application fields and delivery status.
1. Differences in chemical composition
ASTM A36 is an American standard carbon structural steel whose chemical composition complies with American ASTM standards. The main chemical components include carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and other elements. Among them, the carbon content is low, the silicon and manganese content are moderate, and it has good toughness and welding performance.
AH36 is a low carbon steel whose chemical composition complies with Chinese national standards. The main chemical composition is similar to ASTM A36, but the carbon content is slightly higher and the silicon and manganese content are slightly lower. Due to the increased carbon content, AH36 has higher strength and hardness, but relatively poor toughness.
2. Differences in mechanical properties
There are certain differences in mechanical properties between ASTM A36 and AH36 steel. The yield strength of ASTM A36 is greater than or equal to 250MPa, and the tensile strength is between 400MPa and 550MPa. The yield strength of AH36 is greater than or equal to 355MPa, and the tensile strength is between 490MPa and 630MPa. Therefore, AH36 has higher strength and hardness and is suitable for occasions with higher load bearing and higher wear resistance requirements.
