Dielectric Withstand Voltage Test
The basic theory of withstand voltage testing is to expose a product to extremely harsh environments. If the product can maintain normal conditions in such harsh environments, it can be determined that it is working in a normal environment and can also maintain normal conditions. The most commonly used scenario for voltage withstand testing is:
Functional testing during design - determining the conditions under which the designed product can meet its functional requirements.
Specification testing during production - to confirm that the produced product meets the standards required by its specifications.
Confirmation testing during quality assurance - to confirm that the quality of the product meets safety standards.
Post repair safety testing - to confirm that the repaired product can maintain compliance with safety standards.

Different products have different technical specifications. Basically, during the withstand voltage test, a voltage higher than normal operation is applied to the product for a specified period of time. If a component maintains its leakage current within the specified range within the specified time, it can be determined that the component is operating under normal conditions and should be very safe. And excellent design and selection of good insulation materials can protect users from accidental electricity.
The voltage withstand test conducted by Huayi Electronic's safety testing instruments is generally referred to as "high voltage dielectric test", abbreviated as "voltage withstand test". The basic rule is to use twice the working voltage of the tested object, plus one thousand volts, as the voltage standard for testing. The testing voltage of some products may be higher than 2X working voltage+1000V.
For example, some products have a working voltage range from 100V to 240V, and the testing voltage for these products may be between 1000V and 4000V or higher. Generally speaking, products with a "double insulation" design may use a test voltage higher than the standard of 2X working voltage+1000V.
Voltage withstand testing is more precise in product design and sample production than in formal production testing, as the safety of the product is already determined during the design and testing phase. Although only a few samples are used for judgment in product design, online testing during production should strictly require that all products must pass safety standards to confirm that no defective products will flow out of the production line.
The output voltage of the voltage tester must be maintained within the range of 100% to 120% of the specified voltage. The output frequency of the AC voltage tester must be maintained between 40 and 70Hz, and its peak value must not be lower than 1.3 times the root mean square (RMS) voltage value, and its peak value must not be higher than 1.5 times the root mean square (RMS) voltage value.
