With Artificial Intelligence (AI) entering into our lives, one of the challenges we face today as professionals is, How do we enhance our roles to make it more relevant & valuable. One could be a doctor, engineer, Scientist, IT professional or even a banker, with GEN AI capabilities invading our workspace the moot question today on everyone's mind is the impact of GEN AI on my vocation and my relevance to stay in the job market.
While researching on this topic and discussion with my fellow colleagues, I have come up with a very interesting take on how to look at this from a Human Intellect perspective. Let me explain this in a context of a model which I have tried to visualize DIDI Model.
Data - Information | End of an Era
In any profession we usually work on the 2 critical elements in the DIDI Model Data & Information.
Data as we know are raw numbers or figures which do not really convey anything meaningful, and Information is the manifestation /interpretation of the data which is useful to help us understand the context of the data.
Up to as 15 to 20 years back we were in a state of Data Scarcity, which meant there was a lot effort involved in getting basic data and it was not available with that ease. It was also a big task to convert the Data into information and most of us relied on tools like spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Google sheet), Calculators or other statistical packages. With the advent of GEN AI tools, this model is more or less an Antiquated Story, and this is what is causing confusion, chaos and fear of job losses across the industry domains today. While the fears may not be completely unfounded, however what is needed for us as professionals is to challenge ourselves and reimagine our roles in this GEN AI world. Howsoever these tools become powerful, enhanced and come up with super capabilities, one thing for sure is the fact that "Human Intellect can never be beaten by Artificial Intelligence"
The need of the hour is to leverage the power of human intellect and use it to our advantage.
What is the DIDI model?
In order to leverage the true power of human intellect, we need to Shift Right i.e. focus our thoughts and actions on the right side of DIDI model (Decision & Insights)

IT is generally predicted that in few years from now, GEN AI will be able to do 60 to 80% of the work done by professionals today in the industry. This, as mentioned earlier, leaves us with a great challenge of reimagining the work for our professionals.
On of the things needed for us as professionals is to focus more on taking key Decisions & offering insights through the power of our Human intellect. The shift needed in our outlook is to take critical decisions and provide meaningful insights for the decision taken leveraging the power of GEN AI .
Just to explain a little bit more let me take an example
As a #ProjectManager, data and information play a very crucial role in my work. However, with GEN AI capabilities making that easier, I would now need to focus my work more on the critical decisions I need to take and provide insights to the leadership on the health of my project.
The below table lists down few of the Decisions & Insights which can be considered.

Let us all professionals transition and transform and leverage the power of DIDI model
