Diddd you miss me? ??

Diddd you miss me? ??

Happy Friday!

It's been a while - I hope this note finds you well :)

I want to give you two quick updates:

  1. I'm writing a book!
  2. This newsletter is moving to substack

?? The book

I started writing a book in March! The working title is "Your Guide to Climate Action" + subtitle: "a small book for making a BIG difference".

(What do you think of the title? Would you pick up that book? If you have feedback, recommendations, or questions, please share in the comments - I'd love to hear from you!)

The book is a climate journey and action guide for people who are nervous, scared, sad, overwhelmed, or pissed off about the planetary emergency and want to do what they can to help solve it.

It’s for people who want to increase or maximize their positive impact and learn what actions sustainability experts have identified as the most effective when it comes to accelerating the implementation of climate solutions.

Whether you’re new to climate action and figuring out where to plug in, a seasoned veteran who’s always looking for ways to level up your impact, or somewhere in between, this book will help you take the next steps on your climate journey.

I'm hoping to keep it short and sweet - somewhere in the 150-page range. But we'll see. Turns out writing a short book on such a massive topic is hard - who woulda thought?!

If you like the sound of this - if you want to support the book and help bring it to life, stay tuned! I'm working on a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund the project (sign up to be notified when that launches here!)

I'm also thinking of forming a book launch team to help get this inspiring and empowering climate action guide into the hands of as many people as possible!

I decided to self-publish it so there's a lot of work to do and new things to learn. I'll keep you posted as I figure out the details and timeline :)

(Also, if you happen to know of any fantastic cover designers or editors who specialize in non-fiction, please do let me know)

?? This newsletter is migrating to substack

As you know, the nonprofit Crowdsourcing Sustainability closed its doors last September.

But I'm still on the same mission of working to reverse global heating as quickly and equitably as possible.

I still believe in the importance of educating, inspiring, and empowering people around the world to make the places we live and work climate-positive.

And I still love learning, writing, and doing what I can to help people like you on your climate journeys.

So if you want to keep this good thing going in some way, shape, or form, I'm up for trying out a new chapter of this newsletter if you are!

If you signed up for my newsletter back in 2018 or 2019, you'll know it was originally called "What on EARTH?!" or "Leaders in Sustainability" here on LinkedIn, and had been running for years before Crowdsourcing Sustainability became a nonprofit.

Now we're on to a new chapter!

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what this new chapter will look like. Writing and getting the book out into the world is my priority at the moment.

But we'll figure it out as we go. Happy to hear your ideas and feedback as always!

What the move to substack means for you

I will keep publishing the newsletter here on LinkedIn for some time, but I would love it if you subscribed to the newsletter on substack. It's free, 100% designed for this, and I believe it will be better for both you and me going forward!

Anyway, I'm happy to be back. Hope all is well and talk to you soon :)

Good to hear ?? Though I specialize in the "fantasy (football)" genre, I'd be happy to put my English degree to work if you need proofreading or other assistance with the book. Generally, I like the title. Similar to the small/big approach, you could maybe play with "short/lasting"--i.e., "a short book for making lasting change." Just a thought; yours is probably better.

First of all, yes, Ryan, I DID miss you! And second, I just finished writing an email to you with info on my own publishing journey. It includes a link to my kickstarter campaign which helped me publish one of my children's books several years ago, before print-on-demand was THE thing to do. I'm sure the book's subject matter will interest you... Ryan welcome back the planet needs you. Book sounds exciting and if you need some KS strategy tips reach out, done a few and all got funded!!! Tiles are ok and to me finding a way/words to add urgency and collaboration would be good adds. All the best

Welcome back! Book title and scope sound promising. Especially appreciate keeping it short and focused on action. Your audience likely feels the urgency. See you on substack??
