Did you think ChatGPT is artificial intelligence itself? Not quite!

Did you know that the rise of artificial intelligence essentially began 150 years ago with industrialization and mass production? Back then, it was more about mechanization, which expanded the limits of human capability. The invention of various cranes and lifting devices paved the way for progress and urbanization. We should think of AI in a similar developmental trajectory today. AI is increasingly taking a significant role in our daily lives, work processes, healthcare, and software development.

In Hungary, there are numerous software development companies, but one of the largest technology firms in Transdanubia is Precognox, specializing in intelligent, linguistics-based search and text analytics software solutions. The company's leader and co-founder, Endre Jóf?ldi, is an engineer and IT specialist who also serves as the leader of the Békevár Baptist congregation. Having been a follower of Jesus since the age of sixteen, for over thirty years now, it's clear that faith and business can indeed coexist harmoniously.

Like most large companies, Precognox started small as a two-person venture in 2008. Endre Jóf?ldi and Károly Kása, who are still business partners today, gained substantial experience in software development in their twenties. From 2001 to 2008, they partnered with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the largest health institute in the United States. Their work primarily involved developing ToxSeek, a toxicology search engine, as well as other linguistic tools.

"In the United States, among the numerous health oversight bodies, the NIH is the largest, covering everything from biomedical and public health research to pharmaceutical research and development," began Endre Jóf?ldi, co-founder of Precognox. "Since the NIH is a massive organization, it has an extensive health library, and my partner and I worked as developers in the field of text mining. There's an endless amount of text available on the internet, searchable through tools like Google. However, there are many organizations with text that is not accessible online. As strange as it may sound, the text we find with Google and other search engines represents only a tiny fraction of what’s out there, as a significant amount of information is stored only in the private databases of various organizations. To give a simple example, the phone book is also a kind of hidden database—telecom companies have access to subscribers' data and phone numbers, but this information is not publicly available."

Even for a company leader, continuous development is inevitable—proving the old saying true that a good priest learns until his last breath.

Endre Jóf?ldi learned from one of his former teachers that a leader is only a leader as long as they continue to learn. He strives to live his life by this principle, both personally and professionally. He also runs a blog on the church’s website for pastors and congregational leaders because, as he says, leadership increasingly interests him—whether it’s leading a company or a small religious community.

Moreover, Precognox actively contributes to the development of the IT profession by regularly organizing professional presentations, meetings, and training sessions. These events primarily aim to showcase career opportunities in programming and highlight the potential within higher education and the job market. Reflecting its growth trajectory, the company has expanded from its founding in 2008, and now employs fifty people alongside the two founders, Endre Jóf?ldi and Károly Kása.

“When we started our own business, one of our first clients was Sanoma, which at that time owned Startlap. For over ten years, the search engine we developed ran on Startlap and the Profession job portal. Although we no longer work with them directly, we still maintain a business relationship. Our specialty remains the same: extracting valuable information from large volumes of text. Some clients seek market information online, while others want to learn more about their competitors.”

At the company, while most of the fifty employees are software developers, there are also roles for proposal writers, business analysts, testers, marketers, and of course, salespeople. Over the past years, the company has fulfilled an increasing number of orders from both American and domestic clients. Last year, over fifty percent of the company's revenue came from the American market. However, modern business practices require that even a fifty-person company can remain a market leader only if it excels in both expertise and leadership skills. Jóf?ldi Endre, in line with his training, leads the company effectively. At Precognox, continuous development is crucial to providing the best services to partners, discovering, and implementing the latest methods and technologies. To achieve this, software developers frequently conduct internal training sessions. But the focus on development goes beyond just pursuing profit. The company has taken deliberate steps to improve employees' quality of life, offering health support and organizing social programs. Moreover, as one of the pioneers in Hungary, the company supports equal pay for men and women with similar professional qualifications and positions.

In addition to this, Jóf?ldi Endre places great importance on proper communication with employees and continuous feedback. Therefore, the company regularly measures employee satisfaction, collects feedback, and conducts one-on-one interviews to assess and improve working conditions and satisfaction levels.

Its a misconception to think that ChatGPT itself is artificial intelligence.

A well-structured network system is essential, as there is noticeable slow-down in the field of IT. Even considering that text mining and text analytics are considered emerging business constructs primarily due to artificial intelligence.

With the advent of artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, most IT companies claim to have become AI experts within six months, due to the high level of competition. Fortunately, we have a sixteen-year advantage in the field of AI, alongside our expertise in straightforward and average software development. Generally speaking, the IT market has faced a challenging period over the past year and a half, largely due to the lack of EU funding in this area. However, it may be an ideal time to start a smaller business, as it is easier to find skilled IT professionals. The use of models like ChatGPT in the past year or two has crossed many people's threshold of understanding, with some even mistaking ChatGPT itself as the entirety of artificial intelligence, though it is only a small part. AI is utilized across various segments, such as in industry, where AI-trained software is used for programming machines. To illustrate, when we write software, the programmer breaks down the problem, whereas in AI, the software itself solves it.

Like many innovations, artificial intelligence faces skepticism, and the fear might never be fully dispelled. Nevertheless, in the industry and in the competitive market, AI usage is increasingly unavoidable. Endre Jóf?ldi shares this perspective and boldly recommends the application of artificial intelligence.

"I'm not a philosopher, so I can't judge the legitimacy of people's fears, but consider this: people themselves do not act, think, or perform with perfect accuracy. If you ask two people to extract the most important elements from the same text, it is likely that there will be an 85% overlap between them, as each will highlight different aspects. Perfection is never attainable, just as with language models. ChatGPT is essentially a text generation machine that requires constant monitoring to produce the best possible texts. This is where a software development company comes in, to provide a high-quality, legally compliant service, as the client company is responsible for the published text, information, and service."

AI usage allows us to perform tasks that humans could never accomplish.

?Staying somewhat detached from artificial intelligence, it’s worth noting that with industrialization and mechanization, we were able to achieve construction forms and lift weights in quantities that thousands of people could never manage. Endre Jóf?ldi also highlighted Babak Rasolzadeh, an AI expert at Apple, who during their recent meeting in Cupertino, California, emphasized that a crucial aspect of artificial intelligence is creating solutions for tasks that humans could never handle.

“Radiology frequently uses AI in imaging procedures to determine the location and extent of tumors in patients. This works perfectly with a single tumor with human input. However, if a tumor consists of, say, one hundred and fifty smaller tumors, even the best radiologist in the world would struggle to compare images taken two months apart. With AI-based imaging procedures, all one hundred and fifty small details can be analyzed in detail. Nevertheless, radiologists are far from becoming obsolete. As imaging technology advances, the demand for more specialists will grow, because merely comparing two images is insufficient for effective treatment.”

The TAS Enterprise Search Engine developed by Precognox is an advanced and versatile intelligent program that operates on the Elasticsearch platform. It is designed to simplify research across various data sources, enabling searches within databases, HTML pages, and documents in formats such as PDF, DOC, and others. It can be seamlessly integrated with corporate software like ERP and CRM systems, as well as issue trackers like JIRA, and platforms such as Confluence, OneNote, SharePoint, and even email systems. The user-friendly interface, allowing interaction between two computer (hardware or software) devices, or between a computer and its user, facilitates multi-element searches without requiring prior familiarity with complex tools.
