Did you realise how blessed you are?

Did you realise how blessed you are?

Often when you get up in the morning after having seen a lovely dream and you have got one more hour to sleep today being a holiday. Sometimes it takes a simple walk past a man/woman in a wheelchair, hospitals, homeless bunch, etc.. to realize how blessed I am to possess the things I have today, such as my health. If one of you looks at those blessed over him in wealth and appearance, then let him look at those below him.

Going by this saying, I have thought more often about those who do not own as much as me. I get really thankful when I drive by a car I slow-paced elders with their walking stick, exercise outdoors by someone with a cast, held my mother’s hand as a child in the mall while seeing another girl in the complete absence of her parents, or even the fact that I have enough siblings to share my deepest worries with while there are those who depend on the love of strangers in an orphanage.

And as a matter of fact I live right across a building where seniors are housed and there has not been one night in which an ambulance has not driven by to pick someone up from there. I often think to myself , how terrifying it is to be an elder there, each day knowing its someone else ’s turn to leave the building or earth, each day passing by hoping its just not you that’s next. Yes, I am thankful, blessed to be in my state. So grateful as to thank my God every day and every night to still be present on earth.

I would rather give credit which is deserved and appreciated should be to our closely knit family, friends, teachers and those people who really offered a great deal of what they had to make me a better person. Even if some creator existed, he never demonstrated any interest in me being more than a mediocre human being. With all my ups and downs, I still realize that I am still blessed every day, to be able to withstand all trials and be as what I am today. Yes, I tell my creator how thankful I am and I wish I could do more in return for his kindness.

As a common man born in a middle sized town in India, I feel truly blessed when I see my family who loves and cares for me. I am having a roof over my head and I am staying in a reasonably big flat of my own. I am having delicious food to eat, whenever I am hungry, whereas there are many on the roads who can't even afford one meal a day. I am being able to afford basic health care facilities in average hospital. I have all my faculties intact. I can see, speak, hear, walk and understand everything happening around. Basically all the little things at home like ACs, fans, gas stove fridge, mixer, washing machine that make our life so much easier which many still can't afford. My mind is peaceful as I sleep every night seeing dreaI really feel I am truly blessed person. Cheers!

Love this KISHORE SHINTRE from New Day New Chapter! What a great post and reminder of our blessings! We overlook all those things! Reminds me of my mom who captured contentment and simplicity so beautifully. When we were off course chasing whatever and complaining she would remind us of what we truly need to be grateful for in Punjabi : Khaana khan nu hai, ghar rehn nu hai, kapre paan nu hain hor ki chayeda? Kyon pachta rahe ho? Translation: you have food to eat, roof over your head, clothes to wear what more do you need? Why are you suffering?
