Total Quality Management: Even Drug Dealers Follow This Methodology

In the world of business, success often hinges on the ability, to adapt and learn from unexpected sources.

As a seasoned administrator with a background in Total Quality Management (TQM), I have come to realize that the principles of effective management can closely resemble the strategies employed by those in the most unconventional professions - YES, even from drug dealer's principles.

It might be shocking to some, but the parallels between my organizational practices and the methodologies of the underground market are undeniable.

"Don’t Take Product for GRANTED"

At the core of TQM is the unwavering commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.

In both legitimate businesses and the underground market, the quality of the product is crucial. By actively listening to our clients and making targeted improvements, we can enhanced the quality and relevance of our offerings.

This mirrors the drug dealer's ethos: if the product isn't the best on the street, customers will quickly seek alternatives. Just as a dealer must ensure their product stands out, I learned that continuous improvement is essential for maintaining market relevance.

"Word of Mouth Marketing"

In today’s digital age, word of mouth has become a powerful marketing tool. The most effective strategy I’ve found is to exceed customer expectations consistently.

Just as a drug dealer relies on satisfied customers to spread the word, I implemented a feedback loop in my organization that encouraged clients to share their experiences. This led to a significant uptick in referrals, demonstrating that when you provide quality, people will talk.

One memorable instance involved a hesitant client who initially doubted our capabilities.

After experiencing our exceptional service and the results we delivered, they became a vocal advocate, referring several colleagues to our company. This single referral blossomed into a string of new clients, showcasing the power of word-of-mouth marketing.

This is a powerful tool, quite similar to the drug trade!

"Freemium Business Model"

The concept of offering a little for free (as sample) to attract customers is a strategy that has proven highly effective across various industries.

In my current role, we started offering samples of our product, allowing potential customers to witness the workanship, and it's technical capabilities. A conversion rate that exceeded our expectations, proving that a taste of quality can lead to long-term loyalty.

This approach is reminiscent of a dealer offering samples to entice new clients. The outcome?

One client who signed up for our trial version eventually became one of our most valuable customers. Initially hesitant to invest in our full product, they quickly upgraded after experiencing the benefits of the trial. This example illustrates how providing a glimpse of quality can pave the way for future business relationships.

"Control Supply"

Controlling supply is a critical aspect of maintaining market value.

In my organization, we adopted Lean Six Sigma principles to streamline our processes and reduce waste, thereby effectively managing our supply chain. This approach allowed us to maintain high standards while ensuring our prices remained competitive.

Similarly, a drug dealer understands that limiting availability can keep demand high and prices elevated.

As I reflect on these methodologies, it becomes clear that the principles of effective management are universal, transcending the boundaries of legality and ethics.
The parallels between my administrative practices and the strategies of a drug dealer underscore the importance of quality, customer satisfaction, and strategic control in any business landscape.

In closing, I invite you, the reader, to consider: What unexpected lessons have you learned from unconventional sources? Your thoughts could spark a meaningful conversation about the nature of business and quality management. Remember, success often lies in the ability to think outside the box and learn from the most unlikely of places.
