Do you live an intentional life?

In today’s fast-paced, attention-hungry society, many people go through the day on autopilot – completing all the same tasks, day in and day out, with little to no intention. From getting up each morning to go to work, juggling all of our work or business-related tasks, or even household chores and shuttling kids to sporting events, most of the time, we do these things on autopilot.

Yes, they require our attention.

Yes, we get a lot done each day.

But are we truly doing these things with intentionality?

In today’s episode, I discuss why intention is more scarce than attention. I review how having a reactive mindset leaves very little room for intentionality. I explain the difference between completing a task with intention versus running on autopilot and how the latter often leads to feeling hazy at the end of the day.

I explore why I believe the scarcity of intentionality in today’s society is a major issue and how it prevents us from tapping into our fullest potential. I also explain how learning to be more intentional in our daily lives can help us be more effective in achieving our goals, aspirations, and ambitions and what you can do to purposely create more intention in your everyday life.

Such an important topic Ana Melikian, PhD. This is such an important distinction to make. When we do things with intention (not just attention) we bring a power to the situation that is stronger than gravity according to the late Dr. Wayne Dyer. I can feel it! And you are so right about that "hazy" end of the day feeling. An unintentional trance! That describes it well. Thank you - I'll be watching out for that trance!

I love the question. One of my recent affirmations is that I am intentional energy, and my results are the source of my intention.

I love this Ana Melikian, PhD! We can do so much more when we are intentional about how we are investing our time, attention, talents, relationships, money - everything! Thank you for this important reminder to stop defaulting to autopilot and to start living with more intentionality.

I really agree with your expansion Ana with "intentionality is becoming a very rare phenomenon." Isn't it too easy to put off intentionality because it's easier and less risky, resulting in doing what you've always done?

Ana Melikian, PhD This is so important to recognize. Not until we acknowledge the absence of intentionality can we act to be more so. It seems it also applies to social situations. I’m currently listening and reading your post in the backseat while eavesdropping on a conversation in the front seat where my son is relaying a story about intentional team building for work but also for things like group vacations so everyone gets what they want/need out of the experience… on purpose.
