Did you know what YOU were doing after college graduation?

A former college-mate who graduated with me in 2015 recently asked a group of graduates to respond to a series of questions about our first year of post-graduate life and what led up to that point.
I've decided to share my responses in 6 separate posts, of which this is the first.
My hope is that my transparency about my journey will help other post-graduates and everyone aspiring to finish the college/university race to stay laser-focused and encouraged while journeying with the end in mind.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, so please feel welcome to leave comments and/or "like" any post that resonates with your thought process.
Stay strong and stay encouraged while you enjoy your journey!
All my best ~ Danielle

Like many other college seniors, throughout the entirety of my senior year, I was unsure of what I was going to be doing after graduation. I spent the year (and about two weeks after graduation) frantically applying to various jobs, scouring the Internet for job postings, adjusting my resume and LinkedIn account; and fervently praying for a position within the administrative side of the Performing Arts.
There was a feeling of uncertainty that loomed over me for the first half of my senior year. I didn’t know what was coming next. About halfway into the year, I had a realization after a long conversation with God; and almost overnight my perspective shifted.
Rather than negatively approaching my graduation day with fear and an unhealthy obsession on what was to come next, I began to live each day for what it was. Eventually, as the days progressed, I became much more joyful and excited about my then upcoming post-grad adventure—whatever it would end up becoming.
I figured that if God had brought me safely thus far, there was at least certainty in the fact that He would continue to carry me and make my plans to prosper a reality. I began to trust in His timing.
About two weeks after graduating from Elon University with a BA in Arts Administration and a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, I walked into an interview and was hired soon after by a renowned theatre near my hometown where I had completed two consecutive summer internships with during my college career. An answer to my prayers! Look at God.
When I tell you the benefits of letting go and letting God…wow. I moved back to my hometown, and just celebrated my one-year work anniversary at McCarter Theatre Center, a Tony-Award Winning regional theater!
