I read many customer experience articles that mention how the importance of customer experience has deteriorated. Why do you suppose this has happened? I believe there are many reasons. I will name a few:

  1. Still using COVID short staffing excuses
  2. Poor training
  3. Poor hiring techniques
  4. Not listening to the customer and fixing the problem (no follow-up on feedback surveys, reviews, or complaints, etc)
  5. No manager or supervisor on the floor - no interaction with customers
  6. Lack of communication between customers and employees
  7. Employees lack empathy for customers
  8. Employees lack motivation
  9. Good leadership is missing
  10. No customer experience program in place - this helps you understand where your business is missing the mark with customers

Bad Customer Experience

Understanding our customers is the key to moving forward. We can learn a lot by speaking with customers. Remember to treat complaints and feedback as valuable information. Customers are tired of BAD experiences and excuses. If you want customers to be loyal to your brand you must act as if you care. You and your team should be building relationships instead of treating customers like a number.

Why should a customer spend money with you? Why should they stay loyal? What makes them come back to your business versus your competitor? Your employees should know customers' wants and needs by just spending time listening without speaking. This shows customers that they care and want them to return.
