Did You Give Your Life to Jesus or Just Invite Him Into Your Heart?
I have heard many Christians use the expression, “Invite Jesus into your heart.” Or how about? “I invited Jesus into my heart.”
“So ,what’s wrong with that?” you might be asking.
There truly is a big difference between inviting Jesus into your heart vs. giving your life to Him. It’s much like me inviting you into my house and me giving you the deed to my house. In the first instance I might tell you that you should feel right at home, my house is your house, treat it like your own. Until you decide you want to change the house. Knock a wall out here, replace a cabinet there. That’s when I might say, “Whoa, whoa. You can’t do that I still holedthe deed to this house. It’s mine. Stop.”
However, if I invite you into my house and I hand you the deed to my house and now I tell you that it is your house to do with whatever you want, you can start knocking walls out and rearranging, and rebuilding in any way you like. I might not like what you do. I might object to what you do. I might cry over the changes, but it is now your house to do what you want with it.
So; have you given your life to Jesus, or just invited Him into your heart?
