Planting grass on large scale Dibbler roller is your friend.

If you are planning to do grass planting with stolons or thatches on big areas then Dibbler roller is your friend for sure. In general, method of planting grass by thatches is considered more economical method. Most of the Clients and Consultants recommend to use Dibbler. This method will not only saves money but also gives you better results in terms of lawn levels and quality. Dibbler helps you to get these works done faster ensuring maximum results for new grass growth.

Method for planting grass with stolon or thatches you need to arrange grass (like Paspalum vaginatum) thatches from established lawn areas by doing verti-cutting. This will help to remove old thatches from lawns which can be further planted in new lawn areas. You should keep new lawn areas ready with compost mixed, leveled as per design requirements, and watered thoroughly over night or if possible watered lawn areas for 2/3 days just ensure that soil is evenly moist and no weeds are growing. If you find weeds please remove them carefully. Now when you are ready for planting, spread the grass thatches over lawn areas evenly just thin layer and then apply Dibbler roller (weighing approximately more than 1 ton) on it. Generally once or twice rolling will be enough. Dibbler has equally spaced 2 to 3mm thick metal rings on it which helps to push lawn thatches perfectly inside the sand or soil up to 20 to 30 mm deep. Now just apply plain roller over these tiny trenches created by dibbler roller. Plain roller will close these trenches ensuring lawn thatches are planted well enough to cover the areas after growing. Now just keep watering lawn areas. You may see results of growing lawn after 4 to 5 days. To establish it in to lawn area it may take 4 to 6 weeks depending on weather conditions. In UAE, winter is wrong time and summer is good time to do any planting as growth of plants is faster in summer season.

Advantages of using Dibbler: It will help to complete very large area grass planting with very minimum resources and expenses. It gives better finish with levels and results compare to other methods of planting lawn.

Disadvantages: It takes time 60 to 90 days to establish grass in to nice lawn areas. Also in narrow or corner areas you need to plant thatches with flat shovel.
