Diamondbacks Lose to Giants 6-2, Cobb Locked In
PHOENIX?- The?Arizona Diamondbacks? (20-18) struggled to find their rhythm at the plate, failing to string hits together and ultimately succumbing to a 6-2 defeat on Thursday against the?San Francisco Giants? (17-20) at Chase Field.
From the first pitch to his last, Giants’?RHP Alex Cobb ?(2-1, 1.70 ERA) exuded confidence and precision on the bump. His arsenal of pitches had the D-backs swinging at thin air, as he consistently hit his spots with pinpoint accuracy.?
Over the course of seven and one-third innings, Cobb's control was on full display, giving up only seven hits, including two walks, while striking out three batters, throwing 104 pitches.
D-backs LHP?Tommy Henry? (1-1, 4.43 ERA) took the mound for the Snakes, aiming to provide stability and keep the Giants' offense in check.?
In the second inning, Giants' shortstop?Casey Schmitt ?managed to connect with a well-timed swing off Henry, sending a two-run home run sailing over the outfield fence, giving the Giants a 2-0 lead.
Schmitt’s mammoth shot traveled an impressive 443 feet, with an exit velocity clocked at a scorching 111.6 mph.
Despite the eventual loss, Henry showcased his skill and determination, delivering six and two-thirds solid innings on the mound.?
He gave up just five hits throughout the game, displaying excellent command and poise.
"He was more than efficient,” said?D-backs Skipper Torey Lovullo .
“He (Henry) gained steam as the game developed and that's why I sent him back out there for the seventh. I was very aware that they were coming up to the top of the lineup again, and I thought it was time to maneuver,” said Lovullo.

Non-Shutout Streak Continues
On a night that the saw three double plays go against the Snakes, it was?RF Dominic Fletcher ?who provided a glimmer of hope in the ninth inning.
With the game seemingly out of reach, Fletcher stepped up to the plate and delivered a clutch two-run single, making it 6-2, preserving the D-backs' non-shutout streak.
The four-game series between the NL West division foes - D-backs and Giants - will resume tomorrow at 6:40 p.m. local time at Chase Field.
