Diamond vs Cubic Zirconia: Is there even a difference?
Diamonds are?rare and precious, yet numerous similar looking stones exist in the market,?Cubic Zirconia (CZ)?&?Moissanite?are the more popular ones.
Cubic Zirconia?is a man made stone made from Zirconium Dioxide. It's a fairly tough stone but a lot softer than the diamond. It has a different mix of chemicals than a diamond ( a diamond is made of only carbon). This results in it having differences in weight, fire, refraction, durability and almost all factors. They definitely?‘don’t last forever’.
CZ comes at a very cheap price. This is why some consumers opt for CZ. However its?low quality?and?‘fake’?quotient becomes a challenge for discerning consumers, who buy jewels as a status symbol.
To an untrained viewer, one could make the mistake of thinking a CZ stone is a diamond. However, experienced gemologists and jewellers can tell the difference quite easily, especially with larger stones. This is because CZ has a rainbow like fire, the way the light refraction takes place. It clearly marks the sign of a?‘fake’.
When consumers are buying a product, they must decide what it means for them. CZ whilst being affordable, has the downside of looking fake and can become cloudy over time due to its poor quality.

Lab grown diamonds?are optically, chemically the?same?as mined diamonds. They have all the same properties of mined diamonds, and definitely last as long as mined diamonds. To add, the?low carbon footprint?involved with a lab grown production presents a more?sustainable?solution keeping the whole ecosystem in mind.
For the consumer who aspired to own a diamond but due to budget had to settle for an imitation product like CZ or moissanite, Lab grown diamonds are a great option. They have the same?quality, durability?and?shine?as a mined diamond, and yet are far?more accessible?in their pricing. Consumer’s now can own incredible diamond jewellery?without?having to?compromise.
