"Youth's like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever" – Alphaville
During our volunteer activities, we regularly visited a 16-year-old girl suffering from leukaemia. Her chances of recovery were slim, and as her birthday approached, her condition rapidly worsened. Her doctor gave her only 48 hours to live. In a mix of shock and despair, we decided to celebrate her 16th birthday the following day, without delay. On the day of the celebration, we did everything possible to make the event unforgettable. The hospital transformed into a warm and friendly place, and despite her condition, this young girl radiated joy. For her, it was truly her birthday; she no longer had any sense of time, only the sense of happiness remained. The gifts, the cakes, the laughter, and the smiles lit up a day that should have been sombre. This moment has remained etched in our memories and in those of her family—a precious memory despite the sad news that followed the next day. However, like diamonds, these moments of happiness shine eternally in the hearts of those who experienced them.
Dear LinkedIn network,
Humanitarian engagement transcends age, but there is something particularly inspiring about youth dedicated to these causes. Young people bring unmatched vigour and passion, reminding us that generosity and altruism are not bound by time. Every act of kindness is a diamond that shines through the ages, indestructible and eternal. Since our own youth, we have undertaken numerous actions to improve the lives of others. We have assisted the poorly housed and rehoused the homeless, organised fundraising events to provide resources for the most deprived, and participated in blood donation drives for the sick. Every smile we have brought, every life we have touched, still resonates like an eternal diamond in the hearts of those we have helped.
Our actions, though motivated by compassion and the desire to make a difference, have lasting impacts. They transform into precious memories, not only for those we have helped but also for their families and future generations—the traces of good deeds remain and perpetuate over time. Every good deed is like a diamond that never dies, illuminating the lives of others long after the initial act has been accomplished. Ultimately, it is these young people, these "diamonds into the sun," who remind us of the importance of compassion and mutual aid. They are the living witnesses of the humanity within us that urges us to support the weakest, the forgotten, and the voiceless. Their eternal dedication is a light of hope in a world that needs it so much. Our actions, comparable to eternal diamonds, never die in the hearts of those whose lives we have impacted, lighting their path and that of their successors.
Acts of kindness and compassion are like eternal diamonds, shining indefinitely in the hearts of those we touch. Each gesture, each smile offered, is a light that illuminates the lives of others and spreads far beyond the present moment.
Never forget that you have the power to make a difference, no matter your age or situation. Get involved, do good around you, because these generous and altruistic actions will build a better world for us all. Be the diamond that lights the way for others, and your light will shine eternally... well beyond you!
In solidarity,
