Dialogue on Wellbeing with Arun Jain, Founder of Intellect, Design Thinking: Change your Identity
How design thinking can be applied to our wellbeing?
It requires a new mindset from Optimization/Maximization to Possibilities and Opportunities and a new identity. For an individual that new identity may be from being an imitator to who we truly are and then finding our own bliss. It could be as symbolic as not blowing the candle to celebrate your birthday as done routinely along with a cake rather than lighting up a light (symbolic of the human journey from darkness to light) and with healthy food. A practice followed at Intellect Design Arena Ltd that also caters to the unmet need for the wellbeing of the associates. Design thinking encourages us to think of infinite possibilities and enormous opportunities rather than keep doing the same old stuff.
At Intellect Design Arena Ltd , new identity meant a change from order takers to agenda setters. How did they achieve the transformation of more than 5000 associates? Arun Jain , the founder shares some of the insights and practices e.g. No agenda meetings, 13 codes of wellbeing, Wellbeing circles, Performance development dialogue in place of the old appraisal system etc. Once again they are serving the unmet needs of the associates to be authentic, be heard and take ownership in shaping the strategy for their organization. He also applied design thinking at Mission Samriddhi , a?social impact enterprise?dedicated to?holistic human development?in India, primarily to serve the 600 million who live in the villages. Starting point is to help them develop a new identity from poor villagers to wealthy citizens, taking into account their true wealth, that includes love and compassion that is in abundance in the villages, and not so common in the urban areas.
