6 年Diagnostic errors at 88% in the US as 9/10 patients at Mayo Clinic are found to be misdiagnosed!! ... A bit skeptical about the rate. It's worth mentioning that most of the complicated cases are referred to Mayo Clinic and hence maybe more likely that a definitive diagnosis hasn't been made following the complications. Is it possible to generalize the findings made to reflect the diagnostic errors in the US as a whole??

6 年I have seen an increase in missed diagnosis of life threats in emergency rooms. This is directly related to "rushed" work-ups in order to meet metric standards to decrease length of ER stays to 90 or 120 minutes. No longer utilized is a high index of suspicion aimed at ruling out possible life threatening differentials. The most likely diagnosis is often decided upon and lengthy work-ups for potential catastrophic, though less likely diagnosis is not pursued. For instance the hypertensive patient with tearing back pain is quickly decided to have a muscoskeletal injury and discharged instead of receiving a CT angio to rule out aortic dissection.
