Diageo Volunteers: Fueling Our Growth through Passions

At Diageo, we embrace the idea that our employees are holistic individuals with passions and interests that go far beyond their professional roles. In the past six months, I've had the privilege of witnessing our teams embark on incredible journeys of volunteerism and community service:

• Engaging with Learning for Life students in Panama and the Dominican Republic: Our employees shared essential life skills that will profoundly impact these students' personal and professional development.
• Training as mentors for young people in local community programs: This initiative has empowered our teams to guide and inspire the next generation, making a lasting difference in their lives.
• Tree Planting drives: This environmental effort, spearheaded by our Legal team with support from our distributor Global Brands Panamá and in collaboration with Leafsinc + ADOPTA Bosque , has significantly contributed to our sustainability goals.

A pivotal "AHA" moment for me has been observing the transformative effect that these experiences are having on our employees, the sense of enthusiasm and buzz that permeate the corridors after one of the activities, the stories shared, the heightened sense of empathy in how a leader works with his team, a stronger inclination towards collaboration. These volunteer activities not only unlock biases but also bring a renewed vibrancy towards our sense of being ‘externally oriented’.

In our Caribbean and Central America team, we hold a firm belief that every volunteer hour contributes to building a brighter inclusive future for everyone.
