Devotional with Sara Claudia Tillman - Are Your Eyes on the Lord?
Is there anything in your life today that is threatening to take your eyes off of the Lord? These enemies can be very powerful and scary!
The thing about enemies is that, when we stand alone, we are too weak to combat them. When we stand in the Lord and His power, however, we can rise above the darkness that our enemies bring. ??
In 2 Samuel chapter 22, David is rejoicing to God. Why? Because God has delivered David from his enemies. Like the evil powers many of us face today, the enemies that David faced were mighty and a lot stronger than him. But He cried out to the Lord. “In your strength, I can crush an army. With my God, I can scale any wall.”
David was faithful and trusted God’s power. He recognized his own weakness and trusted the Lord to be his refuge, his shield, and his fortress. ?
How many times do we focus on our own vulnerabilities? We rest in the fact that we cannot overcome what we are facing. We do not try because we have already decided it is impossible.
I definitely felt this way after losing my sight. How would I ever rise above it and learn to live again? With God’s strength though, nothing is impossible. In these situations, we need to be more like David. Instead of resting in our vulnerabilities, we should take refuge in God’s power and strength. ??
Trust God today to be your warrior, shield, and refuge when you face your enemies. He will always have the strength to light up the darkness in your life, no matter how mighty your enemies may seem. When we do this, there is no doubt that we will have a victory song to sing just like David.
