DevOps Engineer

Remote role but must be uk based due to meetings

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our clients tech team.

The position is fully remote but meet up in HQ 1 day and month and 1-2 days every quarter therefore we need you to be uk based

DevOps are tasked with taking care of all the company’s infrastructure, based primarily on AWS and implementing state of the art CI/CD pipeline. The company is a business that produces several streams of output, many which require facilitation by the DevOps team.

The team is also responsible for availability, automation, performance, efficiency, scaling, monitoring and emergency response.

The ideal applicant will have a deep understanding of platforms, architecture, people, systems, and processes to both establish and continuously improve performance, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities of the Role:

· Participate in architecting new solutions and processes that can accelerate the development

· To maintain, improve and replace existing solutions

· Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, including automation solutions

· To increase deployment rate and decrease deployment time

· Occasional on-call duties

Required skills:

· Strong experience of AWS – certification in AWS Architecture or a professional qualification would be advantageous

· Good working experience of Docker and containerisation ( ECS, Fargate, EKS, Kubernetes)

· Good working knowledge of networking

· Strong experience with Jenkins and other CI/CD tools

· A strong knowledge of Virtualisation principles and technologies

· Creation of optimal configurations of Apache / NGNIX

· Able to maintain optimal configuration clusters of MYSQL server

· Strong knowledge of Bash and Python

· Good working knowledge of Linux and Cloud infrastructure

It would be a bonus to have the following (although not essential):

· Terraform and Packer

· The ability to deploy clusters with Docker containers in production

· Experience with high availability systems with high concurrency

· Production knowledge of Apache Kafka and Apache Spark

· Any experience of knowledge of : Ansible/ Go/ Promox or other virtualisation hypervisors

Current Tech Stack being used:

· AWS -mainly Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, VPC,Lambda, CloudFormation, EC2 alongside additional networking services

· Virtualisation using Promox

· CI/CD with Jenkins and Github actions

· Local environments on Docker

· Custom VPN set up with Open VPN and WireGuard
