Device Technologies partners with NSW Health to improve cardiac care in NSW

Patients, paramedics, and specialist clinicians will benefit from a state-wide technology project rollout that will transform cardiac care in NSW.

Following a tender and evaluation process, Device Technologies Australia has been contracted by NSW Health to roll out state-of-the-art patient monitors and touch-screen defibrillators.?

Device Technologies will work with eHealth NSW , NSW Ambulance and local health districts to implement 1,400 devices, as well as an associated ECG notification platform. The platform enables real-time connectivity between ambulances, hospitals and specialists for continuous patient monitoring.?

A comprehensive tender process and evaluation was undertaken to ensure the solution met the needs of healthcare professionals using it, as well as the needs of patients from the incident site to the hospital and throughout the continuum of care.

NSW Ambulance Chief Executive Dr Dominic Morgan said ECGs are a crucial tool for NSW Ambulance in supporting patients with suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome – a group of conditions caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.

“We’ve listened to our clinicians about what they need to provide world-class cardiac care. The input from currently practising clinicians has been invaluable in this process and has helped shape what clinical practice will look like with this new device and clinical data notification platform,” Dr Morgan said.?

?The rollout of the device and connectivity technology is expected to commence in late-2022.
