Connectivity is becoming a standard feature for products in consumers’ homes. In many cases, the first few generations of connected products have provided a basic level of convenience and relatively low prices. Manufacturers and service providers now need to find new ways to leverage that connectivity that adds real value to consumers’ lives.
Across connected living industries, market players are driving growth in three key ways: driving incremental revenues through value-added services, expanding the customer base, and exploring new channels.?
Overall adoption of connected home products is increasing each year, but the next five years will see much broader adoption of groundbreaking technologies, such as AI, machine learning, voice control, video analytics, sound recognition, robotics, and more. The connected home is evolving into an ecosystem with many connected devices and services that sometimes collaborate for convenience, entertainment, and otherwise valuable use cases.
Technology advancements show promise of development towards a truly connected home concept. This means the home’s collection of connected products work seamlessly together and automate tasks for end-users by learning their tendencies to provide a whole new level of convenience and value.

2 年In ten years, there will be a larger shift to smart products which can have a bigger effect on smart energy. While the convenience may be nominal to traditional devices, the application for service, support and monitoring of devices which are high dollar in both cost to own and cost to operate will be a differentiator in the Energy market.

2 年The fact that smart video doorbells' adoption has rapidly surpassed that of smart thermostats should not be a big surprise. Video doorbells' value proposition is clearly different and superior to regular doorbells, whereas the smart thermostat offers more convenience but little comfort and HVAC control value over traditional ones.
