Development Note : C7 Pillow
Development Note
This pillow started with a simple question. It all started from the complaint from my wife, who wanted to wash the whole pillow with the laundry machine, not only the cover.
My wife didn’t wash the whole pillow but only the pillow case since when she washed the inner tube, the centrifugal force of the washing machine pushed the cotton to one side – making the pillow to lose its original shape. This is the reason why I wanted to develop the pillow which can be washed easily.
I tried to keep the pillow in its shape by dividing the cotton in the pillow into different sectors. At first, I simply divided inside of the pillow into three equal parts and sewed, filled them with cotton.
After washing, cotton inside the pillow did not drift to one side like before, but it still did. So, I created independent inner pillow parts to put the cotton in, divided them, and combined the parts to minimize the movement of the cotton while washing. The cotton did not move like before, I saw a significant improvement.
Me and My wife were using two identical pillows, but unlike me, my wife complained about the pillow and said it was uncomfortable. My wife and I have different sleeping habits. I'm the side sleeper type, and my wife is the upright sleeper type. Conventional pillows did not support the curvature of the back of my wife head when sleeping upright. It didn’t hold my wife’s head properly.
When combining the inner pillow parts, I thought that leaving the center empty and stacking one more layer would create a structure to help my wife’s head to easily fit into.
After several attempts, I made a pillow with an empty space in the middle by combining three inner pillow parts on the bottom and on both sides of the top of the pillow. This was how the catching nest – which holds the head – was born.
Inner pillow parts are individually sectored and secured, allowing individual pad control. When you rub the inner pillow parts, you can adjust the height of the pillow since it moves. Everyone can adjust the height and shape of the pillow according to the length and thickness of their neck.

The central alignment of the Catching Nest has been slightly adjusted to allow for more effective personal use by making the upper and lower lengths different. C7 Pillow can be customzied to every individual.
To pillow to be “cool”, I selected the mesh for the exterior material. M esh is breathable, and it helps the air in the circulating zone of the central catching nest to escape and enter.
However, since the outermost cover is the part that comes in contact with the face in daily life, I decided to adopt a cotton embossed cover which feels much better than mesh. When 100% cotton is manufactured handmade, an embossed pattern is created. This embossing gives a cool touch with high air permeability and increases moisture absorption.
I didn’t use a normal cotton for C7 pillow. The cotton is specially designed so that the shape of the pillow doesn’t change and the effect of customizing is maximized.
Since the cotton’s texture was made in bead shape, it won’t lose its shape when the cotton moves when pressing it with the hand. In order to find the most optimal length of cotton for washing, I washed and dried were dozens of times with different lengths. As a result, I found the best condition of the cotton for washing and drying.
This is how C7 Pillow was developed.
