Why was the robot tired when it got to work? Because it had a hard drive!

"The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race" - Stephen Hawking

From Bender stealing Fry’s kidney in Futurama, to the entire cast of Fox’s Robots - the idea of robots having a conscience and interacting with humans has been a reoccurring theme across generations of science fiction books and films. As we enter the age of technology where Alexa can call the police if it hears 'unusually aggressive voices' or Google Home can compose emails, we are getting closer to the worlds we used to only imagine.

People fear that the increased use of AI in business will increase the likelihood that you might lose your job because a machine can now make the decisions you were once paid for. The contrasting view is that the continued introduction of AI into our working lives could in fact create evolving employment opportunities for humans.

AI is the simulation of human intelligence within machines, as they try to replicate human rationalisation and reasoning. The aforementioned Robots of the sci-fi world were all assumed to be ‘strong AI’, which have a level of intellect that is equivalent to (or greater in some cases) humans - being able to learn, communicate and even become self-aware. In reality, the AIs of today are closer to ‘weak AI machines’, only simulating human consciousness rather than having their own.

In 2017 several large accountancy firms received hefty fines from the Financial Report Council (FRC) with regard to audit. In light of this, the audit sector has seen the largest introduction of AI due to the fact that AI can asses large volumes of data and generate insight much more efficiently that the conventional methods - saving time and potential additional fines!

Book-keeping is becoming increasingly automated meaning accountants in the future will only really make money from true added value services. Tax authorities also prefer “automation” because it reduces the opportunity for numbers to be manipulated – robots do not lie unless programmed to do so!

Machines have the ability to organise data from the same source into specific categories, and, with the ability to learn from human input, they are becoming increasingly effective at making their own decisions.

The introduction of AI into practice, or any business, offers the ability to improve inefficiencies and ultimately improve the client's experience: giving those early adopters an advantage over their competitors - but perhaps this is only a short term phenomenon!

Ultimately, it seems humans are likely to still have a place amongst the machines – most obviously in areas that require human interaction and a level of emotional understanding that machines unable to provide... for now!

I have raised the same concern with the media article in the USA "Is AI Development a Sward With Two Edges?" AI development agenda invisibly matches the agenda of high intelligence invasion. This is not a process controlled by any powerful force in human form at all but a universal web of hypnotic rhythm. The collective energy force shaped by the active unpredictable human mind will trigger the default direction. There is no way to stop it as we are born and live in this universal hypnotic rhythm web. But individuals who are capable of breakthrough can. Luckily busy, ambitious non-stoppable aspirational individuals have the privilege of getting out of the invisible jail.?

In its own limited way, Office Assistant used AI: “It looks like you're writing a letter...” People only tolerate tech jumping to the wrong conclusion so much!
