In my past articles, I once expounded on building emotional intelligence in order not to run bankrupt in your emotional bank account. Of late, I dove deep into my research on emotional intelligence and discovered the notion of “Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) skills”
The field of NLP is a “tool kit” of skills used by managers to develop emotional intelligence skills and improve performance. It is like learning the language of your mind. These skills lay accentuation on the way you think, what you are doing that already works, what you are doing that does not work, and what you need to do differently.
They are: Mental rehearsal, setting objectives, boosting confidence, planning, managing personal flexibility, learning how to learn (use mental rehearsal to consolidate what you learn), managing emotions, coaching yourself, visualization, finding the best approach, freeing up your inner resources, learning to break bad habits, analysing problems, optimizing your time, helping others improve, evaluating priorities, working with personality traits, detecting and preventing problems, influencing through languages, continuous personal development, mentoring, modelling high flyers, developing leadership qualities and many more.
These skills focuses on your weaknesses and improves them accordingly. For example, a manager that gets nervous during presentations can use the mental rehearsal NLP skill to considerably improve his performance and overcome his fear. Also, if you have difficulty in meeting important deadlines, use the NLP skill of setting yourself daily objectives so that you can be able to plan your time effectively.
Many people think that emotional intelligence is a natural skill that you either do or do not have. It is absolutely a set of skills that you can learn. NLP skills help you identify and focus on areas of your performance that you need to improve. Then, explore what to do differently, so that you can begin to improve the results you achieve. This is a vital step in developing emotional intelligence. NLP skills improve work relationships in the long haul on the grounds that the most ideal way change others reactions to you is to change what you do.
Change what you think, feel, and believe, and you will dramatically alter the results you get. With repeat PRACTICE, these skills wind up programmed and lead to a continuous improvement in organizational and all-around performance.
So on the off chance that you need to enhance your hierarchical execution as a supervisor or even as an individual by and by, try Neuro-Linguistic Programming skills.
