A Message from Tyler
Leaders who aim to build exceptional organizations understand they must take on the role of culture architects. This isn’t just a one-off conversation—it’s a continuous commitment.
Managers play a pivotal role in this, serving as coaches who actively connect individual behaviors with the company’s core values. They need to give specific, actionable feedback that shows employees how their actions either align with or stray from the cultural expectations.
For example, if one of your core values is ‘Respect Others,’ and an employee consistently interrupts discussions or dismisses others' ideas in brainstorming sessions, the manager should address this directly, showing how those actions fall short of the organization’s standards.
On the flip side, if the value is ‘Passion to Be the Best’ and an employee consistently goes above and beyond in delivering projects and seeking growth opportunities, recognize and reinforce these behaviors as exemplifying that value.
Fostering a cohesive culture is a journey, one that spans each stage of an employee’s experience within the organization.
A truly resilient culture is woven through every touchpoint. This means aligning hiring, orientation, training, meetings, and leadership development so that old hurdles no longer hold back progress.
When management takes a critical look at whether its rewards and retention strategies are genuinely in sync with its stated values, the path is cleared for greater organizational resilience, adaptability, and innovation.
In my latest blog post, I broke down the top 5 factors driving employee retention based off an independent study our company recently commissioned - check it out here.
