Happy Friday, readers.
This week, we published the first installment of our series on housing, "The Long Way Home."
We delved into the housing crisis to detail how home buyers, developers, real estate agents and others are navigating the tumultuous market.
And we bring you the stories of those working to solve the crisis.
We'll begin this week in Dundalk, where a developer had to take a chance to salvage a housing deal.
Developer buys country club to save housing deal
Conor Gilligan made a deal with Sparrows Point Country Club in 2017 to develop a portion of the country club into homes. But the deal for Gilligan’s firm, Craftsmen Cos., was in jeopardy in 2020 when the club hit hard financial times.
BBJ's Garrett Dvorkin talked with Gilligan about how he saved the deal and managed to bring new homes to a community that sorely lacked single-family development.
