Develop a Never Say Die Attitude
Don't allow yourself to sink into a setback! Life is full of ups and downs, you have to motivate yourself to get back up, tie your laces, and run with the ball! Below are some pointers that will help you align your mindset and find the necessary motivation to move forward:
1) Switch off the denial mode: When a setback sets in, it can be difficult for many to digest it. However, in the initial moments, it is understandable, but one has to move on by taking corrective measures. Begin with accepting the fact that something has gone wrong. Accept the situation that you are in and examine it to correct it.
2) Ask yourself WHY? : There are times when you think everything will go exceedingly well and that there are no loopholes in your plan! And all of a sudden, it goes BOOM! You feel discontented and dejected. You can mitigate the pain of this blow by understanding the problem. Why did you have a setback? What went wrong? Was it the strategy or the execution? What could have been different?
3) Treat yourself gently: While in an adverse situation, there is a high possibility that you start blaming yourself for it. You don’t need to be hard on yourself. Focus all your energy on accepting the fact and begin to work on the steps to take. Victory lies in learning from your mistakes.
4) Communicate Effectively: Have an open communication with your team. Give effective feedback and give difficult feedback wherever necessary. Ensure every player knows what went wrong and what roles each one will have to play to bounce back stronger. Create an environment of collective acceptance, responsibility and unity to move ahead.
5) Find your mentor: At any stage in life, everyone should have a guru. Somebody who can see the situation objectively, identify pitfalls that lie ahead and can help you train yourself to meet the challenges. One must be a student of life and at every stage one needs a good teacher. You must also play the role of a mentor to your teams.
6) Plan A B and C: Fast moving uncertain times require having more than one course of action. Create your Plan A, B and C. Effective planning ensures an entrepreneur is able to read the situation from multiple outcome stand points. That in turn improves execution and leads to victory.
7) Back yourself: Do not allow past failures to stop you from making decisions and moving ahead. Trust yourself and jump right into the deep end! You will bounce back before you know it!
