Neuroscience expert Ramon David says that we have the capacity to understand and classify our emotions almost magically by improving our emotional vocabulary.
For example, we only discuss anger, sadness, fear, and guilt as powerful emotions. When we experience any of the above slightly, we directly relate them to the significant feeling.
There is value in knowing the difference between frustration and annoyance.
There is value in understanding when we are upset with someone or are inconvenienced.
Likewise, when we fear something, our response can be very different to the situation than when we are anxious.
Ramon says that when we start becoming specific with our emotions, our responses change and our awareness of our actions is directly impacted.
A simple search for synonyms for anger, sadness or guilt can show many emotions we can directly relate to.
Building our emotional vocabulary is essential to understand how we become motivated.
Emotional vocabulary helps us connect with our motivation and drive towards achieving our goals and dreams.
