There are some action/responses, when we know that our project is behind schedule.
- ASSESS the SituationThe first step to developing your adaptability is to assess the current situation and identify the root cause of the delay. It can be technical issue, resources constraints, customer feedback, or others. Analize how much time do you have to catch up, what are the stakeholder's priorities/expectations. We have to gain a clear picture of the problem and scope of the solution.
- Effective COMMUNICATIONThe next is to communicate with the teams in effective manner. Explain to all team members, the reasons for the delay, the actions we are taking, and the revised timeline and deliverables related. Be honest, transparent, respectful, and avoid blaming / criticizing anyone. Communication is the KEY to building trust and collaboration.
- EMBRACE ChangeThe third step is to embrace change and be open to new ideas and approaches. Instead of complaining about the delay, see it as an opportunity to learn, improve and innovate. Be willing to experiment with different solutions, tools and method, then adjust your plans and goal as needed.
- SEEK FeedbackIn the end, we have to seek feedback and evaluate the performance. After completing the project or at regular intervals, ask for feedback from your team members, your manager and the client (if needed). Find out, what went well, what went wrong, and what can be improved.
- MANAGE stressKeep well manage your stress and take care of your well-being. To cope with stress, you can use various techniques, such as breathing exercises, meditations, physical activity/hobbies. You can also seek support from your colleagues, friends, family. Managing stress can help you maintain your focus, motivation, and also energy.
