Detroit was a blast!
We got to show off our Mach-E, our Tesla, the WiTricity Halo wireless charging system, some nifty demos and videos . . . and enjoy beautiful weather in the Motor City to boot. Those of you who were able to join us - thank you! President Biden's visit to the North American International Auto Show, sadly, didn't make it past the Big Three, so he missed out on seeing us and a host of other cool innovators on our side of the show floor. We, on the other hand, did NOT miss out on long security lines. :-(
How much range do EV drivers really need?
With all the talk of bigger batteries to extend range, the question is ... is more ever enough? As noted in the?New York Times, the average American motorist drives about 40 miles per day and 95% of our car trips are 30 miles or shorter. Is there a gender gap in EVs?
A recent article in?Wired?highlighted the gender gap that currently exists in electric vehicles: men are more likely to buy EVs than women, but carmakers are eager to diversify their base. Anchored by a $25 million investment from industrial giant Siemens AG, WiTricity recently completed a?new funding round?of $63 million. WiTricity CEO Alex Gruzen said, “This new capital will allow us to accelerate product to market for both passenger and commercial wireless charging, and speed the development of our unique always-available wireless V2G capabilities allowing parked EVs to return power to the grid.”
