Destiny is what you create for yourself.
I emigrated to the UK from the Czech Republic with £400 in my pocket nearly 5 years ago.
I learned the value of work ethic through doing manual labour starting as a kitchen porter alongside people I’ve never met and I couldn’t understand their language.
Luckily for me, I’ve met so many passionate people who inspired me to get over some difficult times and encouraged me to get to my goals.
Back home I knew I was great at humanitarian science and history and could achieve my family's dream to get the highest degree. But things didn’t work out for me and I dropped out from university because I didn’t pass my final English exam. I had the chance to do the same year again but it didn’t feel right to me, so I’ve decided to move to the UK to prove everybody wrong and find my own destiny.
My family wasn’t thrilled. In fact, some of them were disappointed but I know I did the right thing for me. And yes, as you can imagine, everybody questioned my sanity.
Looking back now to my previous jobs and life events I feel like moving to the UK was the best thing I did for my life and happiness. I couldn’t imagine not doing what I do now: being in the industry I love and achieving our clients' goals to build their trust in work we do for them on an everyday basis.
What does my family think now?
They believe in my work; more now than ever before and I’m sure they’re proud of what I’ve achieved so far. I hope I’ll continue to make them proud and maybe inspire other people to do whatever they want in their life because we’re lucky enough to live in a time where nearly anything is possible.
