Destiny

Happy Friday!

Welcome to this edition of “Destiny” (#235).

I recently watched a biopic titled "Srikanth," based on the true events of a young entrepreneur named Srikanth Bolla, an industrialist who stepped beyond the boundaries of conventional success stories. Bolla's extraordinary vision led him to become the first visually impaired individual to graduate from the prestigious Sloan School of Management at MIT. Currently, as the CEO of?Bollant Industries, a company he founded and which is presently valued at $65M, his journey is nothing short of remarkable. I would like to share a few nuggets from it.

In his?TEDx?talk in Hyderabad, India, titled “Crafting the Future,” he starts out by saying, “God can only give us starting circumstances, but we make our destiny.” When it was time for him to choose a path after his graduation from MIT, he saw only two choices for his career. He could either look for a job in a well-established company, which he referred to as the past, or create something new, which he dubbed as the future. Of course, he created his own destiny by crafting the future.

Reflecting on the difficult times, Srikanth highlights that fulfilling one's dream isn't easy. It comes with its share of burdens and grueling trials. Yet, he emphasizes that our brains work optimally when faced with adversities rather than in times of comfort. He cultivated an attitude of "bring it on" by viewing hardships not as barriers but as catalysts for personal growth.?His sheer courage and determination to carve his destiny irrespective of the odds brought a whirlwind of followers who vehemently echoed his sentiments of resilience.

Srikanth's journey can be a great inspiration and reminder to all of us in creating the future of our choice and navigating hardships along the way. It’s often our experience at work to be in difficult and vulnerable situations, whether the project is going south, or we are being placed in roles unfamiliar to us. It is during these exact moments where we should tap into unexplored parts of our potential. The profound reality is hardships in the workplace often serve as steppingstones to our individual growth.

Whether you're in a hard place right now or facing the intimidating prospect of carving a new path, adopting the "bring it on" attitude may be just what you need to encounter the hardships head-on. Let Srikanth’s journey serve as an inspiration to create your own destiny.?

Let me conclude with Dr. MLK’s inspiring words, “We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Stay safe, Stay healthy and Stay blessed.?Thank you and have a great weekend.
