Deskercise 2.5 - forearm twist

Deskercise 2.5 - forearm twist

Having just stretched out the radiohumeral joint, it’s time to take advantage of that by getting the radius to twist. This is a really useful exercise for people with stiff wrists or carpal tunnel symptoms because it stretches between the radius and ulna, the two bones of the forearm. It’s also where I demonstrate exactly how ridiculously tight mine are, and why I’m currently having treatment!

Sit comfortably in a chair with your arms straight out in front of you and your hands back to back. Bring your right hand over your left one, and interlace your fingers.

Keeping your hands locked together, bring them down and under, towards you and then up through the space between your arms. Feel the stretch to your forearms and hold on – only go as far as you can! Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat several times on each arm.

This exercise is taken from the second of my Deskercise sessions. This session was designed to improve joint metabolism for the whole body. Joints are healthier when they move regularly - movement promotes the flow of nutrients into the joint, and waste products out.
