Desire: The Ticket to Transformation

Desire: The Ticket to Transformation

Well, we are almost halfway through the first quarter of the year and I hope that you are staying focused and moving forward. I have been incredibly busy but productive over the last few weeks. One word has been resonating with me for weeks and I cannot seem to stop thinking about it. I am talking about desire. At this point in the year, many people have given up on their goals and reverted to the same bad habits. If you have fallen off, I am not writing this to condemn you but I do want to challenge you to get back up and try again. I hope these insights about desire will develop the courage within you to go after the life that you want to realize your dreams!

  1. Mediocrity will cripple your life. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with people all around the world. Some people I immediately know are hungry and ready to make the adjustments that will usher them into new realms of greatness. However, others I know immediately are not truly committed to doing the work that is necessary to change their lives. One of the most miserable decisions a person can ever make is to live a mediocre life. Mediocrity undermines your capacity for greatness. Furthermore, mediocrity cripples your life restricting you to cycles of frustration and failure. If 2024 is going to be different for you, then you have to stop settling for the status quo. Make a non-negotiable decision that you will not tolerate mediocrity in any area of your life. Push yourself beyond your comfort zone and propel change in every area of your life. At the end of the day, nothing changes unless you commit to change it.
  2. You must cultivate the force of desire. While many factors have contributed to my success, I know for sure that desire is what ushered me into success and prosperity. For those who truly know my story, you know that I have faced many trials, tribulations, and obstacles in my life. However, I refused to be defined by the obstacles and I have defied the odds. How have I been able to do this? I have done this because of the force of desire. When I look into the eyes of many people in the world today, I see ambition, aspiration, and even hope. On the other hand, I do not see a lot of people with the quality of desire. If you are going to thrive amid a myriad of challenges and contradictions, it is going to take more than inspiration, motivation, and good intentions. Desire is the only force powerful enough to propel you beyond barriers, blockages, and ceilings. Desire is a force that fuels your pursuit of success and realizing your greatest potential. Without desire, your dreams will die and you will ultimately abort your destiny.
  3. Desire is the doorway to transformation. I hear so much talk these days about transformation. Everyone is talking about changing your life but very few can produce results. I've been training, developing, and empowering leaders for a long time. I have not used gimmicks and I have not been dishonest. I have been transparent and I have shared openly my life, my struggles, and my triumphs. From decades of experience, I can tell you that desire is the only true ticket to transformation. So many people claim that every year is going to be their year. Yet nothing about their lives ever changes. What is the missing link? The missing link is that they want to change their lives but they lack the desire to change their lives. I can almost hear some of you saying that the statement I just made was confusing. However, if you will give me a moment I will explain it to you. On the surface, everyone appears to want to change their lives. Conversely, when it comes down to making the commitment, stretching your thinking, and taking action this is where most people fail. You have to understand that everything you have been dreaming of is on the other side of something that you refuse to do. Your inaction is the seed for failure in your life. Desire is what separates those who hope from those who reap a harvest in their lives. Desire is the genesis of your growth, development, and evolution. Desire is the catalyst to you realizing your greatest potential.
  4. Desire is what will make the biggest difference in your life. While I could offer you something deep and complex, I want to offer you something simple and applicable to your life. My life did not change because I had ambition. My life did not change because I had a strong desire. More importantly, my life did not change because I had talent or knowledge. My life changed when my desire for more became greater than my desire for mediocrity. In other words, the difference in seasons is determined by passionate pursuit. Everyone talks about passion but I have met very few people that really possess passion. If you were really passionate, then you would not be passive in your pursuit of a greater life. Passion finds no comfort in undermining potential and accommodating average. Desire is not okay with ordinary when excellence is possible. Desire is not satisfied with the status quo, comfortable with complacency or at home among the clutter of the common. Desire is what separates the mediocre from the master. Desire is what distinguishes the unimpressive from the unforgettable. Desire is that little extra that produces the extraordinary.
