A Designer’s Take on Ai
It feels like everyone on the internet is just exclusively talking about Ai, Its benefits, or its disadvantages and that's been the case for the most part of recent 6 months. But why is it happening? Is it because we are excited or scared? I’d leave that up to you to decide. But, one thing is for sure, nobody who used ChatGPT till now ever said “Please take this away from me” So it’s safe to say that Ai isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
It’s not new that traditional design is being threatened by technology
?? In the 90s
When Photoshop was being rapidly adopted by agencies and in-house creative teams, Traditional designers were debating over whether or not it was a good direction we are headed. Most of the designers that embraced the power of Photoshop and stuck with it were far better off than those who saw it as a threat to their “creativity” Some of the most famous campaigns we still remember were produced with the help of Photoshop. Such as
There was also a side effect of photoshop
?? Fast forward
There is not a single designer today that can’t use Photoshop and everyone is using its power to unlock these massive creative campaigns. But we now have a new addition to our toolsets. Ai is generating tons of design work that once required a huge amount of manual labor. But isn’t it a good thing? It’s literally taking away the “manual labor” from your job and nothing more (yet.)
So what Ai can do?
What Ai isn't doing?
Let me make this even clearer — Ai is going to take out designers that don’t focus on creativity and be good at doing exactly what the client/director says because Ai can do that as well.
As long as you know how to use artificial intelligence to your advantage to create phenomenal designs that are humane and actually sell, Then you’re here to stay.
