Tosin Oshinowo is a Nigerian architect, designer, and entrepreneur. She is the founder and principal architect of cmDesign Atelier (cmD+A), an architecture and interior design firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. Oshinowo is known for her innovative designs that merge traditional Nigerian architecture with contemporary aesthetics. Oshinowo is also the founder of the furniture design company, Ilé-Ilà, which focuses on creating contemporary African furniture.
In addition to her work in architecture and design, Oshinowo is also a writer, speaker, and advocate for women’s advancement in architecture and design. She has spoken out about the need for greater representation of women in the fields of architecture and design and has been involved in initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering women in these industries.
Oshinowo has received several awards and recognitions for her work in architecture and design, including the 2019 Architect of the Year Award from the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and the 2020 Wallpaper* Design Award for Best New Hotel for her work on the Katakata Boutique Hotel in Lagos.
She has been recognized nationally and internationally for her contributons to the industry, including being named one of the "100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria" by YNaija in 2017 and as one of the "Most Powerful Women in Business" by Forbes Africa in 2020.
