This week, we will walk you through on how to connect and engage with these potential employers.
Open a new tab and login to LinkedIn. Let’s do this in real time.
1. Go to the employer’s LinkedIn, follow, and hit the bell icon to get alerts of all posts. The best way to ensure you are following the right account is to go to the website and see if they have information on their social media accounts. That way you know you are following the right one. Some business accounts on LinkedIn are just established to have a presence but they aren’t active. You can also see when they posted last.
2. Set up job alerts for these companies. After you follow and set up post alerts, click the jobs tab for this company and create a job alert. You’ll be prompted to fill in applicable information.
3. If you are within 90 days of departing the military, enable the Open to Work feature. This will prompt recruiters and you are now able to receive InMail from companies. 4. If you prefer not to include the green frame, you can choose to let only recruiters know you're open to new opportunities. Specify your preferences to get targeted inquiries.
5. You can show interest in working for a company by using the "I'm interested" button, even if there are no current job openings. Access this feature on the company's About or Life tabs or within job details. Recruiters within the company can view your profile once you express interest.
Challenge: Block 20 minutes per day (7 days a week) for LinkedIn. During this time, do the following:
- Provide thoughtful comments, share insightful perspectives, and offer relevant expertise in response to company posts

- Post at least daily showcasing knowledge, skills, abilities, and your solution to potential companies’ pain points
