The "Design Thinking"? Way (2/2)

The "Design Thinking" Way (2/2)

Hey Guys,

So here is the final version of the series n Design Thinking and these include all the implementation points where we see all the analysis live in action which we have done by asking users.

Ideate:

This is a team activity in which all the members sit and brainstorm on the ideas which comes as it is on the defined problem.

Its better to be said as no idea is "good" or "bad". The goal is not to find the best solution but to think of many solutions as possible, even the craziest ones!!

There are some motivation factors to encourage the team for this:

  • Make them believe that there are 'no bad ideas'
  • Completely ignore the 'obvious solutions' and try for some ideas which are completely out of the box (may be some weird ones).

Once some ideas have been generated, narrow it down to few by

  • Voting on them among the team
  • Story Mapping (done in the 1st phase of Empathy)

Prototyping

Here comes the most interesting part of implementing the idea - making some prototypes of the look alike solution.

They are referred to as 'cheap working models' of the actual one and are often build on incremental basis once customer views and share his opinion.

Examples to serve are wire-frames and mock-ups which could be built up by various tools as Sketch,Paint or by even Story Boarding.

Tip: Do not invest too much time on one prototype. If the ideas on it is not working much, then make adjustments or take some other prototype and start working on it.

It depends on how you present your prototypes to customers. Even bad prototypes may turn into great ideas on a better day!!

So now after much of brainstorming and designing we come to the last stage of our design-thinking process - Test, Implement & Assess

Test,Implement & Assess

This is the moment of truth when the prototype goes live in front of customers and gets the feedback.

Tips to test your prototype:

  • Create an exact real-life experience
  • Show and don't tell
  • Observe the experience when users are actually using the prototype.
  • Ask for feedback

Assess the test results and collate the feedback which will help the team to identify the areas to focus.

Tip for performing ideal analysis:
