Design Thinking with Kev: HARMONY
Been meaning to do this for awhile. I have wanted to share some of my thoughts around my approach to design as I establish my own creative principles and define my approach. This week I would like focus on HARMONY: the beautiful alignment of musical melodies that can be expressed in human centric design!
HARMONY — striking the right balance between form & function
-Human centric design predicates that there must be a symbiotic relationship between opposing forces: light/dark, calm/chaos, noise/silence.
-There is a natural rhythm ingrained in the human experience: the ebb & flow of emotions, the changing tides of life, that can ALL be expressed, celebrated and accentuated by design.
-When seemingly incongruous elements elevate and enhance one another we say they are “in tune” – in complete balance – and this is the Harmony we strive for.
-It’s a feeling that can’t be expressed in words, and no one needs to explain it to you — it just feels right: a website functions as you would expect it to, you’re surprised and delighted by the visual aesthetic, you want to explore and interact more with the design because it intrigues you.
