Design To Recycle.

Design To Recycle.

It is the last week of World Environment Month, and we are focusing on “Design with recycling in mind.”

We are highly focused on the impact that the Tourism and Hospitality Industry has on the environment. As a result, we are constantly looking for sustainable guest amenity solutions.

All our amenities are designed with recycling in mind with a particular focus on a circular economy.

Here is how we are making a difference with different materials:

Plastic packaging:

“The recycling of packaging does not begin with its collection, but rather with its design. Therefore, to maximize the recycling of plastic packaging, it is essential that retailers, brand owners, packaging manufactures and designers embed recyclability principles into their pack design processes so that, at the end of its life, the packaging material can be successfully recycled and used again in new products and packaging.” -PETCO

Our travel size amenity bottles are made from a combination of PET and recycled PET (rPET) which is post-consumer or recycled plastic, and we use a percentage of this in all our bottles and our bottles have been designed to be fully recycled.

To be clear or not to be clear? - you might have noticed that Sprite has ditched their famous green plastic bottle and moved over to a clear and simple plastic bottle. This is because “Clear bottles have the highest commercial value for recycling.”- PETCO.

We have decided to be simple and practical and have started swopping out coloured plastic bottles to clear plastic bottles for all our amenities. This means that we can make maximum use of all our packaging from design and manufacturing to consumption and recycling.?This helps reduce our environmental impact and reduces waste in the hospitality industry.

The best part of having a stunning guest amenity range is that you can have a label that is stunning, stands out and showcases your brand perfectly but does not limit the bottle’s recyclability. Our labels are made from compatible adhesive material which can easily be removed and recycled. That means choosing the correct label helps create a circular economy where printing directly on the bottle reduces the lifespan of the bottle and prevents it from being recycled.

PETCO recommends that “For self-adhesive labels, use glue that is designed to stay on the label”.

The designing, usage, and recycling of plastic products in the hospitality industry is so important. Paper packaging:?

Hotel guest amenities can be stylish, practical, and have plastic-free packaging at the same time. We have ditched plastic packaging for our guest accessories and moved over to recyclable paper packaging.

Our paper packaging boxes have been designed to reduce the amount of plastic waste in hotels and have been resized to reduce the volume of goods that we transport which helps reduce the cost and impact that transport has on our environment.

Whether you want a shower cap packaged in a simple and stylish grey paper box or a vanity kit packaged in a bright and colourful paper box that matches your hotel room, our paper packaging can be easily designed to suit your requirements.

Or you can opt for one of our simple, sleek, and recyclable paper packaging kraft wrap accessories- less plastic just makes sense.

We also offer recycling options to our customers located in Gauteng, where their empty packaging can be sent back to our factory for recycling- closing the loop made easy and simple.

Aluminum packaging:

Whether you crumple it, squeeze it or roll it with a tube key, aluminum tubes are stylish, practical and a great solution to help create a circular economy in the hospitality industry.

Our raw aluminum tubes are lightweight, modern and can be designed to suit any design aesthetics and come with a fully recyclable plastic lid.

Many of our clients return their empty aluminum packaging to our factory, where they are sanitized and recycled. Less plastic, less waste, more luxury.

Refillable Dispensers:

While they require a bit more cleaning and sanitizing, refillable containers are great for helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated in the hospitality industry. Not only are they reusable, but they also help to reduce the amount of packaging needed for single-use products. By using refillable bottles, like those from our fancy dispensers or pump bottles, you are helping to reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste. Furthermore, our bulk refill liquids make it easy to keep your favourite bottles full and your guests happy.

We have learnt from Pam Shoemaker that “When you put the whole picture together, recycling is the right thing to do.”

We are here to help you find the solutions that best work for you.
